The leader of Meken Intamagi party leader Temirbek Asanbekov was the first who passed the official language test.

Kazakhstan:
- From Telegraph.co.uk: Kazakhstan’s main state-owned TV station ditches Russian language broadcasts despite the fact that Russian is an official language. According to the article, the order came down from Nazarbayev to dump the Russian broadcasts. Could this be an attempt like many other Central Asian states to embrace their native tongues and to teach their children their respective native languages to maintain a strong cultural and national identity??
- From Interfax-Religion: Kazakhstan will inspect foreign religious literature being imported into the country. The inspections will be carried out by Customs
