Tajikistan authorities arrested and sent to trial for members of the Islamic group, the Hizb-ut-Tahrir (The Party of Islamic Liberation). Gulomdzhon Zokirov and Ismolibek Mamedov (17 years in prison each), Shukhrat Sharipov (18 years) and Alisher Madzhidov (two years)The members were tried on charges of plans to overthrow the government and participating in extremist activities.
Thus far this year, Tajikistan has detained 76 Islamists citing connections to banned groups.
